No parts in country for Subaru 2018 Crosstrek, been waiting a month? Would this happen with an American made car?

Asked by GuruTS6GF Jul 01, 2018 at 06:45 AM about the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek Premium

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car was hit while parked. Its been at the body shop for a month nd now at
the Subaru Dealer for a month waiting for rack and  pinion steering parts! They
just keep saying no parts in country and no idea when they will get them! I'm
rethinking the whole Subaru or any imported car thing! Would this happen if I
buy a US made vehicle or are these parts manufactured outside the US too?

The rack and pinion is damaged from a hit? That sounds pretty significant. I'd check to see if a 2017+ Impreza rack will fit, as CTs are just elevated Imps.
