Subaru Crosstrek noisy "diagnostic" test

Asked by ditkitty Dec 31, 2018 at 05:38 PM about the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek Premium

Question type: General

Occasionally, while stopped, my Crosstrek makes a pneumatic type noise (like
a tiny little jackhammer).  No warning lights come on, and the car otherwise
runs great.  The dealer said it was running diagnostic tests.  Is this really true?
It is sporadic, but it seems awfully noisy for something normal.

Keep an eye (and ear) on what is going on. If this persists take it back to your dealer for warranty repairs.

Mine does that too occasionally when opening the drivers side door shortly after parking and shutting off the engine. I’m not a mechanic- but it’s been doing that since it was new over s year ago. I wouldn’t worry about it. ‍♂️
