vehicle stalls when coming to a stop after high speed driving, unless transmission is put in neutral

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Vehicle stalls when coming to a stop after highway driving unless it's put into
neutral or park. Vehicle re-starts in neutral or park, but stalls again when put
into gear. Idle speed is fine, 800 to 1000 rpm. No check engine light. Once
engine cools of down, problem is resolved.

It could be the transmission lockup solenoid or the torque converter itself, not necessarily the engine. Explain the symptoms to a transmission shop and see what they say
