Oil in coolant

Asked by GuruCFTTF Mar 08, 2019 at 08:33 AM about the 2002 Mazda 626 LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 02 Mazda 626 which was
overheating flushed radiator, flushed
heater core repaired one hose. Drive
for two days and t starts over heating.
Last nit I was going to pull coolant
temp sensor so I drained some
coolant out. I realized it has oil in the
cilantro!  Could it be a bad readiator,
although I don’t see how the oil goes
through the radiator. Could it be a
blown head gasket or something
else?

Please advise any suggestions!!!

Unfortunately, it is likely a blown head gasket. If there is oil in the coolant, then it could only get there internally. Automatic transmissions do use the radiator to cool the transmission so if it is red, it may be the radiator.
