The car will not go into park and we can't start it in
neutral and it's not starting what can we do?

I have a Mazda 2000 4 cylinder and the linkage from the transmission to the shift lever came completely off. Although the shift lever moved in the car, it would not move the linkage under the hood to start the car or change gears. You might take a look at yours.
