Hood latch

The hood latch is stuck on my 2002
mazda tribute tried all the obvious
push on the  hood stuff tried manually
w a screw driver. Now we sprayed it a
few times still wont release from the
latch . the pull lever still seems to be
pulling u can hear it clicking in the front
any ideas

Most probably the latch broke in the closed position. I had that problem once, the spring on the latch had broken.

It was not easy, had to remove bumper to reach the latch and force it open with heavy screw driver. Once the hood was fee, I replaced it with new latch.

Before to start removing the bumper, make sure that you can reach the hood latch. I did it on a 1993 Ford Escort which has a simple fascia design. You may find after removing the bumper that hood latch assembly cannot be reached.
