2001 Mazada 626 Transmission

Asked by TonyBurgin Feb 23, 2007 at 06:41 PM about the 2001 Mazda 626 ES

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I need to know where to locate the mlps switch on the transmission.  The transmission is a CD4E transmission.  The paper says that sometimes the mlps switch goes bad causing the transmission not to shift.  I was wanting to check this switch before I put a new transmission in.

Dear TonyBurgin-- Your 2001 Mazda 626 is not the only car with troubles from the CD4E transmission and the transmission range sensor (mlps.). Therefore there are answers to be found online at various gearhead forums. I suspect the mlps sensor is located on the top of the transmission beneath the air filter box. I advise that you read these links before you go any further. And then the best answer is probably to take it to a good transmission shop. Go to http://www.obd-codes.com/forums/1469-obd-codes-97-mazda-626-4-cyl-at-obd-ii-code-p0708.html and http://www.mazda626.net/index.php?act=ST&f=28&t=4879. Good luck from Bovan.
