Will a 98 Ford explorer transmission
work in a 92 Ford explorer

No, the 1998 model is OBD II but the 1992 model is OBD I. They're completely different computer control systems and are not compatible with each other at all. You need a 1994 or older and the tags on the two transmissions (original one and replacement one) must match exactly. Hope that helps! Jim
