What all motors are compatible with a 01 Mazda Tribute?

I put an engine from an '01 Taurus 24V in my '03 Tribute. I had to exchange the damper, flex plate, front cover, fuel injection, plenum, oil pan, gaskets and engine mount (with considerable grinding). It saved me $350-$400 bucks. Just remember when changing the setup, on the front crankshaft is a timing sprocket. You have turn the engine over by hand clockwise where the key way is at 9 o'clock. Then change the make timing sensor (disk) to the 1 o'clock position (there are only 2 key ways on the disk so it will point at the sensor in the front cover at top dead.

I have questions. I have a 2004 Mazda MPV 3.0 v6.The mechanic told me I need a exhaust manifold imbedded catalytic converter and I was wondering is the Mazda Tribute 3. 0 V6 is the same as the MPV one?
