My parents are experiencing some issue with a base model 2.5L. The transmission goes into "overdrive" and won't move. I drove it, but it didn't happen to me.
Oh god yes!! Where do i start? First of all I have a 2018 Nissan Altima Sr midnight Edition. On the first day of purchasing my vehicle I have problems with vibrations in the steering wheel while driving and in the seat in the whole cabinet vehicle take it back three times just for them to figure out what the tires need balancing and of course them trying to tell me that the vibrations are minor and that I should basically just deal with it. Heck no I said if I'm purchasing a vehicle brand new I wanted to drive like a Cadillac. So finally after the third visit resolve. But now I'm having issues with my vehicle and lights flickering. I was at the red light just yesterday and when the light turn green soon as I put my feet on the gas pedal to take off my car almost cut off on me it stalled so bad that the car behind me almost rear- ended me, and the lights are constantly getting dim at night time not all the time just sometimes but getting worse over time, and constantly losing power while driving I can't tell you how many times I've had to floor the gas pedal just to get moving, and today I actually looked under the hood and there's acid leaking out of my battery so I'm going to assume that this is the problem but it's just hard to believe that a battery could cause so many problems I have an appointment with Nissan this Friday. Don't get me wrong overall it's really a nice car really quiet rides really well now as long as you keep the tires balanced and rotated. But since I started having all these problems it doesn't feel like a new car now I'm just waiting for the next thing to the break or malfunction on the vehicle. Thank God for the warranty. And by the way my vehicle only has 7 thousand miles it
2018 nissan altima sr special edition forward collision warning system not working from when I purchase vehicle new. At about 200 miles it came on and has been working ever since.
My2018 nissan altima sr special edition forward collision warning system not working from when I purchase vehicle new. It is not functioning more then it is they told oh wow it clean in the front.. am I susposed to do that daily I doubt it. They tell me well there is no recalls on there should this is BS nissan
Thank you all for this info. Previous Altimas up to 20117 had transmission CVT problems and failed engines. Nissan announced 2018 has new transmission and engine. There were "No Complaints" registered on : car complaints.com. Dont know if Nissan "silenced complaints" as no information, except for this, has surfaced as I searched for it. In either case surveillance has to continue on the '18.
2018 Altima the forward collision warning systen not working. Only 2500 miles on it. Now the airbag light comes on and off. My dash has several warning light flashing at different times. My dealership told me Nissan knows about the problem but it could be a week or 6 months till they decide what to do about these problems.
Its weird people are feeling this. My forward collision system is running perfectly fine. I have driven 7000 miles and no problem at all. It actually helped me once to avoid a huge collision.
The only problem is the you can feel the vibrations and wind noise when you are cruising on 70-75. But the price for which I bought this new nissan 2018 altima, i think its okay. Its ways cheaper then honda and toyotas and hence the feel is different too
Own a 2018 Altima just turned 10,000 miles. Transmission failure had to be put on a flat bed and brought to the closest Nissan dealer. No loaner cars available. So the car still has transmission issues and Nissan will not provide temporary transportation. I rented a car and will be going after Nissan to pay the cost. Will never purchase another Nissan.

Have a 2017 Nissan Altima SR and at 48,000 the CVT transmission failed. This happened early in December 2018. Dealer we bought the car from Napleton Nissan, sold their Nissan dealership to another dealer Primetime Nissan and that dealer filed for bankruptcy after a couple of months and is not authorized by Nissan for warranty repairs. So went to Southlake Nissan which did replace the transmission under warranty. No loaner cars from Sothlake Nissan, I had to front the cost for my tow to the dealer AND my rental car. Still not been reimbursed by Southlake Nissan (Not their problem they say, I didn't buy from them) or Nissan Corporate. Nissan Corporate has so far just been a run around and I'm still out $ 600.00 for a warrantied repair.Don't even ask me about their Regional Support staff member James. Thanks Nissan you've been great ! First and last Nissan that I will buy, their customer support is BS as in BUY SOMEWHERE ELSE ! After the sale they don't know who you are !
I purchase a 2018 Nissan Altima SR Special Edition 9/1/2018 and my front sensor does work, however every time I drive the car it tells me there's an obstruction and the sensor failed. It beeps every time that message appears.. it's beyond annoying
same problem with mine they tell me the system is not perfect.
Got a 2018 Altima a couple of months ago, just hit 50,000km and suddenly started having major transmission issues. Insanely rough while shifting, losing power, rpm's all over the place. Was driving 30km/hr down the road and all of a sudden it was jerking and shaking trying to keep going. Taking it into the dealership next week, Nissan needs to learn to ditch the CVT altogether
car complaints.com was covering up for the 2018, '19 Altimas - kept saying " NONE" complaints - Nissan paid them off to keep quiet and fool the buyers - this is a crime.
Sounds about right hate Nissan
Nissan by hickory hollow is full of shit as well since day one getting car had problems now transmission light on and shakes and won’t move wth nissian
I told all of you in 2017 -18 that the Altima stinks - stay away.
Carcomplaints.com not reporting Altima probs - have deal with Nissan dont report any probs.
Nissan is sleeping on Altima - can't understand it.
Do not see new Alts on road - people finally caught on.
Dealers all fool buyers- is a given. Nissan continues to fool us. Spends fortune on advertising instead fixing their probs. Replace management.
Carcomplaints.com has lost credibility - not posting tremendous amount of Alt complaints.
Actually, they haven’t fixed anything. Today i was told I have to get a whole new transmission in my 2017 Nissan Altima with 70,000 miles on it. and thank god for the extended warranty. My car would be jerking the whole way home from work, I would stop at red lights and it wouldn’t wanna change gears. One day before I even knew I had transmission problems I was going across a intersection and my car wouldn’t go... it was barely moving and I could’ve almost died it was at random. I had to turn the car off and then turn it back on and it was like it was running fine then. It’s crazy. If your going to buy a car please look into everything you can about it so you won’t end up in a hole. I did not take the time to search.

Just got my 2017Altima Nissan three months ago it’s sad that I’m experiencing problems already I took my kids to the pool on our way there my car wouldn’t go over 20mph we made it to the pool and parked the car once we got out the pool I tried to start the car up and it would not start I’m so mad I didn’t know Nissan had these problems before hand♀️
I warned all in message 220 - Nissan Transmission trouble exists way longer than Camry probs. Altima goes way back to 12,13,14-20. They advertise like mad to buy it. They need big Federal Consumer Class Law Suit - they falsifying car - telling lies - stealing people's money.
Carcomplaints.com not reporting Altima history problems - have deal Nissan?

Did ANY of you try to add the complaint at Car complaints? I am just curious because you are all saying they aren't reporting any but nobody has said if they tried to report them.
Message to 130 : You lucky so far - don't speak too soon. You have mileage to go before probs start like others. John
I have had my 2015 Altima for a year and 2 weeks ago I replaced the battery and it had so much acid on it that my husband had to pour Coca Cola on it to get some of the acid off of the battery, and just last Saturday my transmission went out. Thank God it is still under warranty and Nissan dealership is fixing it. They didn't have any loaner cars for me to use while mine is being worked on. They offered me a discount with enterprise and I refused it because I have to pay you'll for the diagnosis test and you want me to pay for a rental car. I think they are just going to patch the problem enough to say they fixed it. I have a feeling i will have further problems once it's fixed after the warranty goes out. So I'm considering trading it in for a more dependable car like a Honda or Toyota. I have never had any problems with these cars. Nissan is one of the worst cars I could have ever gotten. Everyone I have told about my car either had a the same problem out of their Altima or know someone that has had the same problem.
Coke is acid and will not neutralize battery acid. Next time use baking soda.
To Tee 1020 : You lucky Nissan fixing your Tranny. They usually fight off warranties. How much mileage you have on Tranny. New ones : 1917. '18, '19 '20 are disaster - just like Camry. Need study before buy any new car - too risky out there. John 400.
Keith what did they do to stop the vibration? I have a 2018SL and thats my issue apart from that all is well
My 2018 altima windshield needed replacement the tech said there was a 2 inch gap at base of windshield and asked if I had cabin noise...I said no...but when I drove away sure as sh@t it was quiet. I am now on my 2nd windshield in less than a month. So not sure if it's a problem windshield issue or what.

Well I'm another who was unaware of the NEW Altima issues. I have an '18, my front sensor randomly cuts off for some reason (communication error came up on diagnostic recently). NOW my big issue, I went to start my car the other day and it wouldn't! 10 minutes later it did ... everything checked out good on diagnostic (battery, starter and alternator) yet it Now turns over slower. Also NOW, maybe 3 or 4 times, at the least, a day when I'm reversing and put it in Drive I press the pedal nothing happens until 4 seconds later!! Sometimes I 'll get a sputter. I took it to Nissan for a complimentary oil change, told them about the issue to see what they would say. Of course they're surprised it happened, bring it in for a $100 diagnostic. I'm not going to waste my time when we know the issue! And unfortunately my warranty expired. I've had several Nissans had an issue with my Juke (turbo failure) decided to give them one more chance. Well. Signed, Perturbed Customer

Soo my transmission failed at 30k miles. Fixed under warranty. I used the car for work, working for Uber in NYC. I abused the car like a step child and put it through so much stress I had my own personal therapist at my local Nissan dealership I can talk through about all my problem$. It was but so much abuse my little Altima could take and ended up dying (transmission failure) at 222,845 miles. RIP 2015 Nissan Altima s (special edition) Currently on Craigslist for sale for 2k trying to cover its burial costs. PS won’t be missed.
I have a 2018 Altima SR Special edition with 62000 miles on it and "knock on wood" it runs and operates beautifully as it should. All electronics so far work perfectly. Trans fluid was changed at 35000 miles. Oil changed every 4,000. I get a little over 29 mpg in the city and a whopping 44.2 mpg strictly interstate driving averaging 70mph. Checked several times over 100 plus mile trips. So far no problems but it could change. Hope no problems come up and right now I am totally satisfied with my 2018 SR Special Edition!
