No showing off here....Deathjam4 Photo appeared before I had finished my question. 940 miles and there is corrosion on some steal. During mornings here in South florida i guess condensation has this rust dripping on the drivaway... They claim it's normal steel heating up. Checked others on the lot ( new Jetta SE ) not one. 11 cars exactly.

rust is preaty normal these days on cars. tho to me that looks like its a bit heavy for a florda car. if the part is not rusty or different on the other cars on the lot take some pictures and point it out to the dealer or go directly to vw head office with it and post a formal complaint. its likely the part just did not get a coat of protectant paint or something. but if its that bad that quick chances are the part will go bad fairly quickly. Your best bet is to snap some pictures of other cars with the same parts and send an email to vw canada if your in canada or vw usa if your in usa and so on. if you make enough of a stink about it they should replace it with a less defective on. I am no steel worker but I find its often that a steel part will rust quickly if its been cast in correctly or not protected properly.

I bow to you my friend. Thank you for the great advice and I will move forward with it. Just goes to show you how we the people can help each other. So far I have checked two vehicles. One in a supermarket parking lot I asked the gentleman if he has the same issue and does not. I checked a 2018 Jetta like mine the same no rust. Why the fight? Why do they question something that is obviously abnormal? I have a personal disability I don't want to be stuck on the road should this render the car in operable without a moment's notice? Thank you again!

Its the main reason i droped my jetta back when i did and my audi which i recently traded in after only a year because of the lack of mechanical knowledge even at thier most advanced facility was a joke at best. I spent the last 3 years straight up arguing with VW and Audi on basic issues with my cars. I even told them what was broke and they argued tooth and nail that it was not the issue. I have been working on Vw's and audi's for over 15 years of experience and they tell me they know their shit. I also actively look for skilled mechanics and shops in my area and have a good number of shops i trust with a vw or audi and they know more about those cars then most of the dealership techs put together.
