A variety of possibilities. The computer may be telling you that there is a legitimate engine problem, or it could be a true "Service engine" light that comes on at intervals, like Dad's 1991 Mazda B-2200 pickup truck does. Have the codes read, if they are coming on and off, it is an intermittent problem, but something should be stored.
