Bad pcv hose cause of stalling?

Asked by Mike Feb 10, 2014 at 11:03 AM about the 1991 Mazda Protege 4 Dr DX Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a Mazda protege 1991 and a
few weeks ago I filled the tank and
the car stalled on me about 2
minutes later. I can restart after a few
seconds but it won't last long before
it stalls again. I got the battery
replaced (needed to anyway) and no
luck. I don't lose power as when it
stalls my lights and radio and ac stay
on fine. I figured it was an issue with
the fuel system and used some fuel
injection liquid as a quick fix. As you
can probably tell by now I don't
know much. I don't have time to take
it in to a shop as I work all week and
just started this job and therefore
can't take any days off to go get it
looked at right now. Today I was
looking at it and I noticed that the
hose coming off my engine and into
the large plastic elbow hose thing
was cracked. I think it's the Pcv
hose. Would this be the culprit? I
really don't want to waste any money
on something I don't need.

Mine car had the same issue. Have you checked the fuel pressure regulator. I had to get mine fixed and it stop the problems.
