Question type: Maintenance & Repair

drove it for a week and now the change oil light came on ?, Called the
dealership asked why they didn't change the oil, was told it was changed and
they forgot to reset the feature, so my question is : if that's the case wouldn't
the oil change light been coming on the whole time I was driving it and not a
week later ?

No, let's say u change your oil when the timer says 20% oil life and dont reset the timer. The timer will countdown to 0% and say that you need an oil change even though you really have 80% oil life. It's not like the "miles to empty" feature which resets itself whenever fuel is added. Some things still require a human's touch.

Check the oil level and look at the oil. If it is clean and at the correct level I would have the dealer reset the reminder. No biggie.

Just reset the maintenance minder and stop trying to overthink it.
