Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2019 Jeep Cherokee main screen started going
crazy today. Heater will come on and off. AC will
turn on and radio stations would change on their
own. Any body else had this issue.  We bought
Jeep 5 days ago.

Yes, I have the same issue and found another three people that have it. Do you have your phone connected or any other devices when this issue happens?

Yes my phone was connected via bluetooth. I attempted to turn on the heater while i was driving and thats when everything started going crazy on the main screen

I just took my jeep to the dealership today for the same issue. Jeep is hoping to have a software update available next month (march) to fix the "ghosting".

That’s good to know. I have had a update and a radio change and it made the issue better but still is present. The told me to drive with out my phone connected to see if that was causing the issue then reconnect it later and see if it comes back.

Well i guess the radio is the culprit. Hope with a new radio issue gets resolved. Please update us after your new radio gets installed.

I had issues as well. 2019 Jeep Cherokee. Started where the screen went into a colored line screen that eventually blacked out. When calling the dealership, they scheduled for me to come in and they'd give a loaner until it was fixed. Flash forward - upon arrival, the garage scheduler met us in the parking lot and said there isn't anything they can do, if it happens again to drive there immediately. Needless to say, I work and the dealership would be a 3 hour round trip for me. She didn't understand why I would have a problem doing that?!? Poor customer service. We ended up talking to the garage manager. Miraculously, there was an update to the radio. He did the update and was to send us on our way. Before leaving I noticed where their shop put a deep cut into the pain of my car. He insisted it was there - which I know it wasn't. they put a dab of white pain on the spot and said, there isn't anything they could do at the moment. Are you kidding me? I wasted my Saturday for a "scheduled" appointment for them to brush me off, damage my car and the issue is now worse than it was before. I now have popping speakers, Loud conversations when connecting my phone and freezing of the screen. How disappointing when spending almost $40k for a vehicle!

Same issues as above with my 2019 Jeep Cherokee bought in October. I’ve been back to the dealer every month with the same issue. AC turning off and on. Stations going from AM to FM back to SXM to media to going thru phones contact log. It’s like it’s possessed. I’ve taken several videos. Today when it started I can’t even use the touchscreen to turn the AC off or change the station. Called dealer and of course got told nothing they can do until this “ March “ update comes out. Totally ridiculous and I’m fed up with this. We spend all this money on a car and upgrade the radio to have it not work and this dealership and Jeep not do anything I’m so mad!!

Just picked up a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited High Altitude. Touch screen unusable. Prompt constantly skips from position to position on its own. Changes media settings. Changes radio channels. Changes temp controls. Changes GPS etc. etc. Also, before this all started I tried to browse my iPod via USB. After 5 minutes I stopped it. So, I think there's a couple of issues with this car. Unfortunately it made the great experience of picking up a brand new car into an aggrivating disappointment. I don't see how the dealership was unaware of the problems.

My uconnect radio switches from screen to screen, turns on a/c, turns on backup camera while going forward, it seems to cycle thru the entire menu turning things on and off. Had it at the dealer 5 times, finally I recorded it on my phone and emailed it to the service manager who said he forwarded it to the manufacturer, they said an update would be coming before the end of March. Today is April 3nd and there is still no update available. I called customer service three weeks ago and they assigned me a customer care rep who emailed me and said they'd be in touch in a day or two, and have never heard back from them.

Follow-up The salesman went over many of the touch screen features before we signed. After a 5 minute demonstration of several settings; GPS, Radio memory, Bluetooth pairing etc no problems were evident. We moved on to other things. As it turns out this problem is a known issue and is supposedly being addressed by the people at Uconnect. Customer service stated that a software update is pending to fix the ‘bug’. After my own troubleshooting I realized the glitch is triggered by using any USB port to browse a media device. I tried both a thumb drive and my iPod with audio files connected through USB 1 and USB 2. The touch screen failed every time. No USB device. No Uconnect issues. I hope this helps anyone who is experiencing the same problem with the Uconnect system in their Jeep.

I started to have this problem today in my 2019 Jeep Cherokee. I’ve only had the car since April and I keep having technical issues. First, the switch to change the channel up and down on the steering wheel went out, now I have my touch screen doing random things by itself! I plugged in my iPhone to do the Apple Car Play and it would switch back and forth by itself from Car Play to Sirius XM or normal radio. It also started clicking on random buttons by itself like settings and temp. I don’t know what to do. I’m taking my car into the dealer on Monday to see what they can do for me. I went from a Hyundai to this and I can’t believe that my Hyundai was manufactured a lot better then my American made vehicle was.
