what supplies ground to the CKP

Asked by RKRJames Dec 06, 2016 at 03:05 AM about the 2002 Mercury Cougar V6 Hatchback FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello there im working on my sisters 2002 Mercury Cougar... No spark,
checked fuses...replaced coil pack still no spark. while checking CKP and
CMP I found I had no ground at the CKP connector. The CMP did have ground
at its connector. I traced the wiring back to the previous connector and tested
all the wires they were all good. What I am trying to find out is what gives the
CKP its ground? Is it the PCM and if it is could it provide ground to one and
not the other. The CKP does give off some voltage when tested.

I think there are two main grounds the one the battery and the other would be from the body to engine..
