Freeze plug went and no heat

Is the engine in my mountaineer shot? While I was driving
down the road the first thing I noticed was that the inside
of the car was not heating up. It was blowing air but it was
cold. Then the temperature of the engine started to rise
quickly and I heard a pop then the engine started
smoking. The freeze plug came out and all the antifreeze
was gone. My husband put a new freeze plug in and
replaced the antifreeze just today. The oil still looks
normal. Just wondering if the engine is going in it?

All depends on how hot the engine got. You'll just have to see when your husband does the repairs and starts it up. If all works out, keep an eye on the exhaust for lots of white smoke with a sweet smell to it. This would be a blown head gasket and more repair would need to be done.
