1999 V6 2.5L Cougar Transmission stopped working without any signs of a problem. Could it be the PCM/ECM module causing the problem?
My sons Cougar reveved up (came out of gear) on his way home. The transmission then re-engagged and all seemed ok. The next morning he drove it about two miles and the same thing happened, but this time it wouldn't re-engage. When you first start the car, the transmission will engage for about 30 seconds and then nothing (the engine just revs). Because there were no warning signs of a failing transmission, I think maybe it's an electrical problem. I replaced the Transmission Range Sensor, but this didn't help. Any thoughts or suggestions.
