I've heard tons of different possibilities.
From the breaks flopping back and forth to
the steering rack being shot. Its under the
hood, mainly on the drivers side.

Thanks! I had my old man replace them, but they were the wrong ones. So he just cut to them fit. I knew that was a bad idea. Will replace!!

Also, could you specify WHICH bushings it could be?
migration_judge_roy answered 11 years ago
the steering rack itself could be worn...did you examine it for excessive play...you should be able to tell which bushings by takin' er up on a lift and squeezing at various components with a channel locks to find out which bushings are worn and warrant replacement~
Cut them to fit? Is he trying to kill you? Those bushings, if not right can cause loose steering..if not outright failure. Chew his ass out royally

Theres no talking to my old man. Trust me. This is not the time or place to elaborate on that either. Thanks for all the info and advice! I truly appreciate it!
these cars are famous for noisy control arm bushings.
