Car battery dead...

Asked by MinnesotaMama Apr 13, 2017 at 04:04 AM about the 1998 Ford Taurus SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My battery dies on my car
and I have no idea what to
do. Reading posts, I see I
am supposed to unhook
the leads when not parked?
This will be a dumb q., but
how do I do that? My car is
in driveway in rain so
everything is wet. I k ow
how to out battery charger
on, but that's all. I have no
money for a battery and no
one to call for help. My
husband and daughter
passed away very recently
and I am lost. I dont drive
often...every few days. Just
need to get to dr. appts and
such. What is a voc and
what does it look loke...in
case my husband had one
somewhere?
I currently have $2.18 for
the month and again, no
one to help. I have an
important meeting
tomorrow afternoon. Can I
hook battery charger up in
the rain? It happened about
a month ago too for some
reason.
Thank you.

Well you will need money to fix this problem, the battery and alternator need to be check, which can be done at an auto parts store, to know what is giving you the problem, they will do this for you. Yes you can hook up the battery charger in the rain, but the charger should not get wet. Keep it protected from getting wet.

Thank you! I will try to get it started today (still raining). Then I will run to the local auto parts store. Apparently, they will check codes free of charge. When able, I will get it rwpaired. Who needs their medications anyway? Lol. Cant get to pharmacy without a car so may ad well.be sure I have a car.

Might as well see if there is any trouble codes, just write them down so I could help you on them. No just so you know, the more times you run that battery down it is hard on the battery, and at some point it will not take a charge.
