AC compressor

Asked by GuruLFJRQ Apr 29, 2019 at 03:56 PM about the 1991 Mercury Capri Convertible FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

If a shop told me the AC compressor clutch was
bad is it possible for me to just replace the
Compressor? Or would a shop have to do it? Is it
hard to do? If I found one at a junk yard is it a
possibility that the compressor would be any
good?

If you have never worked on an AC system, leave it to a shop. The system needs to be flushed and vacuum checked. If you replace the compressor and clutch and do not prepare the system, it will not work properly. A/C and Transmissions are best left to professional shops to fix it properly.
