THE YELLOW ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND REALISE THIS WILL HAVE TO BE
LOOKED AT - NOT SURE WHAT IT MEANS AND WILL IT COST A LOT TO BE
FIXED.

You need to get hooked up to a scan tool to read the code, or codes that are causing the light to come on. Then you can determine cost.

Should be ok to drive for now, long as you are not noticing any problems.

The light means your Mini needs attention- the mechanic now gets some money- and yeah, with your Mini, it could be a LOT of money- you won't know until the verdict is in- good luck!
