2006 Mitsubishi eclipse gs engine knock

Asked by Desboe Mar 30, 2017 at 12:30 PM about the 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I have a 06 auto eclipse, stock everything for
now. A couple days ago the oil light came on and a
night ago the engine started knocking, it would be
quiet but as I accelerate and the car goes past
about 3000 rpm the knocking starts. Then today it
completely cuts off on me. What could be going
on?

It was pretty low but I ended up putting three quarts of some 5w-30 just to see if there would be some kind of change but the knocking continues.

Knocking is not a good sign, may be a rod knock. You may want to check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge to see where its at. But the knock is there and needs to be determined if it is a rod knock. If it is then you can rebuild and put your turbos on.
