Mitsubishi Eclipse

I have a Mitsubishi Eclipse its a 2001 I was glowing red less than 3 seconds running what's going on with it

have seen this condition with a plugged catalytic converter~ also the timing might have you slightly out of sorts, leaving excessive unburned fuel, like a LATE camshaft, if that exists~ actually might check the timing belt tensioner to see if it's worn and does not have excessive play...that would account for late combustion~
