Well you have to see if it's getting fuel don't use any more starting fluid your gonna bust something see if it's getting fuel first could be fuel pump then check make sure it's getting spark the two things a vehicle needs is spark and fuel if no spark then you have an igntion problem could be coil could be distributor or a part in the distributor could be a few things even bad rotor like a $5 part or even a $15 dollar cap

You can disconnect the battery for a couple minutes sometimes that resets the computer and the codes 1985? Shouldn't be much of an ecu

Got yours mixed up with another thread of an older eclipse also make sure when you turn the key on you hear the fuel pump kicking on and pressurizing

Sure that's always a possibility but always go through your checks first spark fuel ignition could even be distributor if you can get a scanner on it that night help but check everything else first before you delve into ecu or relays ect. Not saying it can't be the computer just do your checklist first, see if it's getting fuel first thing second check spark you can pull a spark plug out keep it the plug wire hold it on the metal part of the engine have someone crank the car if you see the plug arcing on the electrode then you know you got spark if it doesn't then that very well could be your problem then you have to go from their and that could be a number of things including the ecu, as well ass bad cap and rotor , bad distributor , bad part in the distributor ect.

Is your fuel pump kicking on when you turn the key? You should be able to hear it quite distinctly

Id like to straiten something out quick, if your engine turns over by the starter then it is cranking. Arizona is right you need to check for fuel and spark first and its easy to do in one simple step, once you've let it sit for a few hours and any potential fuel has evaporated crank it over for a few seconds (5 seconds would do) then pull a spark plug or 2. If its dry youre not getting fuel, if its wet with fuel you can test for spark while the plug is out like Arizona explained above

Also you have a cam sensor a crank sensor also if it's spinning over real easy then you could have a broken timing belt those need to be changed at regular mileage intervals some need to be changed every 60k some 100k just all depends
