Switching problem from heat to air

Asked by Brandy Jul 08, 2022 at 07:04 PM about the 2004 Mitsubishi Galant GTS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My heater and air conditioner both work just fine,
but I can't get it to switch from one to the other
when I want it to. I had to use the heater a few
days ago because my window kept fogging up.
Now, I can't get it to switch back to air.
Sometimes, if I turn the car off then back on, it
will switch, but I want to switch when I want to
switch it, not when the car "feels" like it. What do
I need to buy to fix this problem?

First of all you need to find out the actual problem, it could be a servo motor that is getting weak and can't pull of push the door open or closed. On the other hand it could be a control module or a simple switch that doesn't catch. The most cost effective way is to have the unit checked by a good independent shop,( it's old enough that you don't need the dealer) they can let you know what it is going to take to fix the problem.
