There is a transmission shift solenoid pack of 5 required in the vehicle, also a transmission speed sensor and other components that may cause this problem, like the clutch assembly. Internal parts failure is difficult to diagnose without opening the transmission. Is the check engine light on, if so, pull the codes and they may tell you the problem, more or less. It may be wise to consult with a technician first. I would check the actual price of the car, not the $500.00 asking price, to see if this is a real bargain. Keep in mind that a replacement transmission can cost around $3,000.00 parts and labor.

Yes I just bought a 2003 lancer and when I get up to 4000 RPM it starts hesitatating. Does that sound like a fuel filter, fuel pump or sensor? It drives perfect other then that. Could you help me out and give me your opinion on this. Thank you
