transmission range sensor

Asked by Mountaineer2004 Jul 08, 2018 at 02:38 PM about the 2004 Mercury Mountaineer Luxury AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Whilel trying to take off my transmission range sensor the bolt that holds the lever that's connected to the shift linkage spun and I cannot get the bolt off.  I can put it back in position but I'm not sure if I broke something doing this. Any suggestions or help on this would be greatly appreciated!

you need to hold the linkage arm in place while you remove or replace the nut holding the arm and range sensor on because if you let it spin it breaks the roll pin off inside then it will just spin around and you cannot change gears
