G6 power steering malfunction

Asked by GuruRR7MG Feb 14, 2020 at 11:49 AM about the 2010 Pontiac G6 GT Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2010 G6. I was driving on the highway, -40 windchill, for about an
hour and a half. As I was driving the car shook a bit, the steering wheel
lurched a bit and then the power steering went to Armstrong steering. I didn’t
drive it over night and now it is working again today and no dashboard
indicator lights are on. Is there anything to worry about or should I just take it
in and get it checked.

Yes you need to take it in to have it looked at ASAP. My 2010 G6 did the same thing and I found out that it was the EPS sensor. It may getting ready to go out on you. Hopefully your car will be covered by the warranty but mine is not unfortunately. There was a recall several years ago on the power steering sensor. The recall time is past now so in order to get it fixed mine will cost me around $500 to fix which stinks majorly.
