a good car or not

Problems with transmission, good car but by now most have been beat by teenagers. Trans is the biggest issue.
the only major problem with them is their weight, they are really heavy, 4wd and 4ws is expensive and heavy. vr4's have amazing acceleration but i have never heard of any mechanical problems with the tranny or any other part for that matter
depends what you want it for-if you plan on modding it-hell yeah grab that car and mod the hell out of it- actually I don't know how mod friendly that car is, but it's a mitsu so go for it! Man that car would be tight with a lot of money put into it "good lines".
Id def get that car if I found a good one and had extra cash to burn. Never driven one but it looks amazing and is built by Mitsu. I got an Evo and I can tell you they have some really mod friendly engines. The 3000gt is heavy so its probably not the greatest drag car but you'll be having some good fun in the gravel and snow while those drag cars are stuck on the side.If you have one in good condition check it out and buy it.
well all Mitsu have a bad smoking problem if you dont keep up oil changes and stuff like that
YES, it´s a really good car, if you want a sports car with 4 wheel drive, 3.0 L V6 twinTurbo TwinIntercooler, what other car have that?
I flat love mine. Period. I have a 1972 Corvette Stingray, and driving my 3000 is just as much fun as driving that. Ive put 20,000 miles on it, it has 48,000. The only problem I ran into was that the stock pulley that has the serpentine belt and the a/c belt (it has a specific name that I cant for the life of me remember) came apart at the rubber shock zone. The OEM replacement faired no better, but the aftermarket one I have on now has had no problem.
good cars definately. however, if you start to up the power then the clutch will burn itself out pretty damn quick... put a harder clamping one in and you'll be picking pieces of metal out of your gearbox in no time! :-D

It's a fantastic car and if it's in good condition and a decent price I would say grab it. 99 was the last year the 3000gt was made and they're not very common. They're quick as hell and if you intend to mod there are a bunch of companies that specialize in 3000gt/steath parts. The tranies in these are cars are perfectly fine. I think the weakness most people are talking about are actually the tranfercases and those were only a problem in the first gens. There was recall on them too so you can get it fixed for free. And they aren't that heavy. Yes they way 3700 pound but Supras weigh 3500 and you get awd and aws with the VR-4. So yes if you have to mean definately snag it.
mine is fantastic, its not the vr4 but its still a beast and relatively gas friendly.
haha I'd like to see you try to take a 3000GT off road. They are built so low to the ground they get stuck all the time. The engine is also not ery "mod- friendly." Most mechanics I have been to won't even work on my engine because it is such a pain in the ass.
(here I'm talking about the VR-4 because I have one) ... Its a good car on many point but it still has some negative points as well, first for the performance, it's very nice even if it's bone stock, it's has a great acceleration (despite the important weight), great handling, can take corners really fast and easily, and if you want to mod it, damn this car has so much potential, but you've got to invest a lot of money for several parts and to pay a lot of hours into the perfomance mecanic shop because this car is not the easiest nor the quickest to modify, but the results worth it a lot !! The engine can take a lot of boost before problemes occurs (and it sound great and nasty !), but never forget to upgrade other parts when giving more boost...) Also, the car looks great and with a little money invested for a new paint job, wheels and on a body kit if you want, it will look soooo great and almost exotic :P Also, the awd system gives you a lot of performance in the rain of even in light snow with good winter tires ! (but don't think that it's an off road car because it's very low, like 3 or 4 inches to the ground... So the negatives points are the important weight that can kill a little bit the performances and the fuel efficiency, the fact that the car is very complex (awd, aws, active aero, ...) causes that it's not cheap to modify and not easy nor quick... To conclude, if you find a VR-4 that has never been wrecked, never been beaten too much, in great condition (body and mecanic) and you have several thousands dollars to invest on it, damn BUY IT :D tou won't regret it :P hope my review was helpful ... ;)
i have a 93 and i love it. Has never given me any problems, its pretty much fully custom and has a engine and trans rebuild with about 6000 miles on them. trying to trade for a gto or an m3 or something hit me up with an email if your interested jtuz25@aol.com
Must of the comments here are from people who dont know or owned one before, here is the reality about this car. If you want this car for daily basic drive like go to work and school is good, great transmission and fast. But if you planning to make any mod or over boost the turbos my friend you will regret for the rest of your live, engine blow very quickly and the car is super heavy and dont mention that no mechanic likes to work on this car, any engine repair is over $2500, definitely is not a car for race like Mustangs or Corvettes but a very nice ride to go work, beaches, etc.
here is a picture of my and I dont recommended

This is my baby! It's my 3rd car and it's the 1st to actually be in my name the front ed with the radiotor support pushed in thats why you see a side photo, yet still very sexy ;) She has 199,974 miles and still peels out if i want to and runs strong. The only problem i had with it and i had it for 3 months now is they never changed the oil so it smoked for awhile and till i changed it the air filter.... my god i dont want to talk about it but its also replaced other than that tires. It's highly dependable from the abuse the previous owner gave it and with the miles and front end damage. I still get stares at my car. Thats to include the peeling tint, and if you touch the paint you will probally rub it off the car. Power and handling is what this thing has. If you want folks to try and race you out of the blue get one. Plus this ride is on all the need for speed games and racer games you can pre customize it on your game then on your true ride. Its a dieing breed of cars since its a import so I suggest to grab one its going to be a collectable.

My Bf and i have a Mitsubishi gt3000 and we loved it untill we found out how hard it was to find someone to change the tires cuz no one had a lift that could go under it and they are exensive tires. But that was just a little minor thing later it would just die going down the road the battery was fine filter fine we changed over 2000 dollars worth of parts in that thing then we thought we fixed the problem so we were going to sell since it was getting to exensive to fix and we live in northren wi. in the country on a dirt road so it was taking a toll on it. so we found a guy that was going to buy he was taking it for a test drive and it quiet out of no where on him now the guy wants to help fix it so he can buy it cuz it is a hard car to come by now we are thinking it is somthing to do with the coil packs.I would say if you are going to buy this car buy it from a dealer or some one you know and trust so you know they are not selling you a car that does this....But when it ran a puured and had amazing amount of power and get u and go nice gas milage comfortable front seats not so much back.....We absolutly love this car and we would keep it but this one little problem has made us spend hours under the hood and spend money like its going out of style. So it is a great car just hope and and pray this doesnt happen .
justsaying answered 11 years ago
ashdamudchick, if the guy took it for a test drive without you or your boyfriend, beware... he might have pulled over and disconnected something so he could get a better price out of you. I would take it to the shop, and have them do a quick check

Ok, so i see this post is pretty old now, but for those using this as a reference still hear me out, I've had COUNTLESS 3000gt's and Stealths (the dodge twin) and I honestly think if you are going to use it for a daily driver year-round, it's not the best idea! simply for the fact that, just like any car, it breaks. But, when these need work, they are expensive to fix simply because there are not many parts for them anymore and they are a rare car to start with! However, if you were planning to use as a summer car, go for it!. They are very fun and beautiful cars to drive. Now for those talking about mods..again the aftermarket world of parts isn't as big as say the honda world just because there is not as many. You will pay more for the mods and if you do mod them it is VERY rewarding. Stock these cars ran up with cars like the Supra, 300zx, Mazda rx7, Skyline, and so on. You can get plenty of power out of that 6g72tt and drop weight on em no problem.
the car is 20 years old already and not in production anymore, any review on this car is useless at this point
NO typeav....any review is not useless....i am reading every last one as i am looking to buy one this week, Will_i_am3K i appreciated your nput. i am agonizing for a week on whether to by the 3000GT i have found in pristine showroom condition...afraid of it not running well and costing too much for me to fix...not thinking not to get it
The one i found is a 1998 mint condition 3000GT with only 30,000 miles garage kept and well kept by rich people....purely gorgeous showpiece but i will be using it for daily use so i am skeptical...afraid of expensive fixing
I have a 1999 3000gt, it runs perfect and is the engine is amazing. At a stop sometimes it sound like the car is off because of how quiet the engine is but when you rev it it's a monster. Mine has 178,000 miles on it and is running strong. I've kept up the maintenance on it. If you keep it well maintained it will be a great car to have and it will certainly make you happy.
But if you're looking to mod it make sure you know enough about the engine or find someone that does because these aren't very mod friendly, but if done right it will blow away most cars.
i am not looking to do anything to the car but drive it...and not looking to race it or speed...just buying because it is pretty and stylish...but don't want to be putting money into a car that is known for issues or has hard parts that may not be findable...getting scared putting the cash out like the engines gonna blow up...it was very well maintained....it is in tip top shape timing belt just done and all hoses etc under the hood.
Most parts that I've needed I have ordered online and installed no problem. The car is a great daily driver. If it is in good shape it will last you until you get bored of it. But trust me it won't happen.
Hi Susan, Do you mind if I ask where you found the car you are speaking of? If you decide you are not interested I might be if you do not sharing the info. Of course you would have first shot at it. You can email me at cricketzplace@gmail.com. Thanks in advance... Cricket
I recently bought a 95 non turbo 3000gt. It had one bent valve, one broken valve and a shattered piston. I removed the head. It cost me 50 dollars to machine the head with slight damage. Bought a used piston at eBay for 35 dollars, I bought head gaskets a pair for about 90 dollars. New timing belt and kit for about 190 dollars, and a new tensioner for 70 dollars. Now you all tell me if that was expensive. That was a major engine damage! It did not even cost me 500 dollars to fix a destroyed engine! One more thing these cars can take a beating, I regularly run the rpm up to 5000 rpm when I floor the gas. It is not a drag racer, but it can race, because it has super cornering ability. True racing is not straight line, it involves handling, and driver skills. Conclusion it is a beautiful car. Parts are not hard to find they are just not it stock and not expensive at all
I have a 1994 gt sl. Bought it in 2011, replaced the engine this summer. It has always run well. Just wanted to upgrade as many things as possible.New engine has only 35,000 miles on it. The mechanic stated that I need to drive it like I stole it.
I have had my 99 SL for about 6 years now and as far as mechanical issues go I've only had to replace the slave cylinder on the for the clutch. the O2 sensor went out at 120k along with the alternator but those are designed to fail at those miles and now I'm up at about 140k. All in all its been an amazing car.
i recently bought a 94 gt and have a small problem with the tranny or an electrical problem not sure which. Have had my mechanic who is very capable on cars and he has said the shifter connection below the shifter has worn out. Cant seem to find this part around. Does anyone know where this can be purchased? Only one we found was in Texas and it was used. Car is sticking in park and wont shift out of it even though it has plenty of battery juice but does not turn over. The headlights come on and battery was charged. Just wont shift or start. Does anyone have an idea? Thx Jim
I had a 1995 VR4 for just over a year; my observations: Pros: Magnificent handling, blistering acceleration, beautiful styling inside and out, arguably the most practical and functional supercar of the generation (four seats with the two front seats being very comfortable, larger hatch). Mine had a couple of minor issues when I had it, but I know more about cars than the average dude so I was able to sort it out luckily :) Cons: Awful on gas, expensive to fix, at least 500 pounds too heavy What to watch for: for the age of these cars and the sophistication (twin turbo, intercooled, AWD, DOHC, 6 speed, etc), I would recommend paying extra on top of a conventional inspection for a compression test with special attention paid to the condition of the turbos. Recalls were also an issue with these cars; I would contact a mitsu dealship immediately after buying to get recalls checked and addressed. With any vehicle with turbos, having clean, topped-up oil is very important as well as waiting at least 30 seconds at idle before shutting the car off after driving (esp hard driving) so the oil circulates the motor and cools the turbos. Look for proof that the oil was changed on time. With these cars, you either need to know a fair bit about cars or have deep pockets; if you have neither, forget it. Chad
I have a 93 3000GT SL and I Love mine because it's very original, and yes they are very reliable if you take care of them! :)
Hello everyone, I bought my 3000 gt in July 2014. I love my car so much! I have never thought for a second that I made a bad choice. I do have to say I am a little stressed out about finding parts but it's not that big of a deal... This car is so worth it! I will look for anything this baby needs. ;)
Yo kiero comprar uno para colección xk tienen bonita linea
I have a 98 and have had it for 13 years. Most of these cars were bought as weekend type cars and mine has always been a daily driver. I will tell ya that between 150 and 200k miles I spent about 6 grand on repairs. I never had a issue with garages not wanting to work on it thou. Repair and parts are def not cheap now and all the work I did was simple maintance issues that could happen on any car. Struts seals timing belt clutch etc. I also wanted to note that there is nothing wrong with tranny in these cars even thou lots of people seem to think so. Like any tranny they do break at times and the reason people thing the 3s has a bad one is due to mitsubishi's contract with the manufacturer of it. The contract was designed to make tranny unservicable, so any lil thing that went wrong required the whole tranny to be replaced so people thought the car had a bad tranny cause they were always being replaced instead of fixed.
I have a 1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT SL with 80000 miles and the only problems I've heard they have the most are timing belts and water pumps. And yes it did have those problems and were replaced but other than that this car is pretty awesome and easily can smoke those Honda ricers (not hating on honda). I usually put an octane booster liquid to get better performance because these engines were meant for higher gas octane points, I recommend it. I like this car, very stylish for it's age.
Just thought I'd post this, got one second hand few days ago. I'm in love! What a car! The parts aren't that hard to come by and fixing the engine isn't as hard as some people make it out. All the information you will ever need is in the operating manual and best thing about it is its written so everyone can understand it. My only worry is, its a head turner... like a BIG head turner. Its rare, pretty, loud and mean looking. I'm literally terrified someone will nick mine! But that can happen with any car. So yeah, do yourself a favor and if it is in good condition, buy it. Also, mitsu engines are pretty bulletproof, if you fix a problem theres a good chance you won't ever have to touch it again. :)
I have in my possess many 3000 gt and a dodge stealth. I had my first car in 1992 and it was a vr4 3000 gt which I still have running like a beast. They are really good mean cars with lots of potential if you take care of them. Keep regular maintainace, and you won't have any problems other than just regular stuff like tires and breaks, and major regular improvements at certain years and mileages. I have a used my first car once too many racing, doing crazy stuff and in several car accidents, but if you know about these cars, and know how to do online research and shopping, then it won't be no problem to not only find cheap use parts, clone parts used in other cars or just custom things all on your own and do all the fixing yourself. There are plenty guides, blogs, manuals and people who know about these cars as me who can help in guiding you to the right places. If you find one no matter the condition if for a good price, then get it and learn about it!! You will not regret it!! Soon it would be a collectible car which will make them even more desirable by many!!! Good luck everyone!!! :)
I have a 98 with probably about 300K on it, i say prob cause the odometer stopped working at 225229. We are the second owners of the car and for 12 years its been a daily driver. around 145K the car got exspensive with new seals struts clutch etc. Again high mileage wear and tear, it cost around 6 grand over three years. Now pushing 300K, pretty much double the original 145 ish and all is still great on it. Plenty of power and all works. Only issue on mine is it like to eat alternators, so in the 12 years of owning it I have put about 5 alternators in it. They pretty easy and cheap if you do it right thou.
I have a 3000 GT VR4 and I bought if from a friend that did not know how to change the timing belt. Yes he bent the values. I currently have the head in the shop and at a cost of $900.00 to totally rebuild both is not cheap. I also am having the turbos rebuilt at a whaping $1250.00. I go in next wee to see how bad the block is going to devastate my wallet. The car looks great, is to have great power, but really needs the maintenance kept up on it. The clear coating in the 90's sucked and it is currently just peeling off. So when I have the engine complete I will have to rebuild my project fund to move to a paint job and then the interior. This is my old man project car and I just love working on it, this is when the engine is on the engine stand and not in the car. Got to go and paint the engine bay before the engine parts return.
I bought a used '92 in '93 and have had very few problems with it. Still get excited when I get behind the wheel.
Bloody nice &a fast cars I love driving mine every time I drive out smile on my face !
I LOVED my 3000gt. I never even heard of them until my son talked me into buying one after my Subaru got pushed into a cement wall on the freeway and totaled. I live in the mountains (Tahoe) and it snow every winter upwards to over several feet at a time. Everyone said I was crazy for buying that car cause it's not a snow car. I LOATHED that car once our first snow came. I couldn't even pull out of a side street with a little ice or slush under the tires. When the chain installation dude told me my wear bars were showing on my front tires, I got new ones. My local tire shop ordered special low profile mud and snow for me ($750.00) $300 more than I cost for Toyos on my SUBY! Amazingly once I got those tires I had no problem what so ever navigating in 7 inches of snow. Mine was not the VR 4 the mid model. I put thousands into it with in the course of a year. Every time I did it handled better. There was never any engine issues at all. It was the suspension and under carriage that needed attention, outer control arms $260. (Rear shocks $880, clutch $600, front brakes $250). Never had a problem finding anyone to work on it. I commuted back and forth from Tahoe to the Bay Area almost every week in it for a year. Then one day on my way to work it kept stalling out like I wasn't putting the clutch in when I stopped. CHP gave me a ride to work and after work I drove it the two blocks back to my house never drive it again. Everyone had an opinion as to what was wrong with it. Trans axle I think is what ultimately it was. I was heartbroken and for a year is walk past it and say "I'm going to fix you". But I had a car payment now (Subaru) and just couldn't afford to or know anyone that was willing to even tackle diagnosis and repair. Anyone that I trusted at least. I sold it for $1200. one day I will get another. My most fav vehicle ever. So fun. I know how to drive a stick. I won every race .... One speeding ticket two warnings in a year. Being female helps too I actually purchased mine from a mechanic and thought it would be well taken care of. Come to find out the oldest beat the crap out of it before he got a more practice car for the snow. Just happened to run into a kid who had taken many joy rides previously before I owned it. Just because a mechanic owned it doesn't mean it's been taken care of! I have come to Find out.
Typed tat on my iphone. Noticed some dumb auto co Played an typos. Sorry hope it makes sense
It's a fun car you have a lot of money set aside to work on it. Contrary to what some say, the transmissions are the number one issue. The factory trans was not strong enough for the car itself, hence they burn up sooner than they should. Fun car for sure but you need a backup car, lots of money, lots of patience and a very good certified mechanic that would even be willing to work on it
I don't agree J Holt, I have owned mine for 13 years and never had any many issues with it. 300k miles and still all original except tires struts and one clutch. Still same transmission and it still don't hiccup a bit. If you do your research you will find there was never really a tissue with the tranny just a issue with how the trans was handled. Its was set up in the contract with the manufacturer that the tranny would never be repaired. If anything ever went wrong it was to be replaced. They got a bad rap because everyone thought the trannies were failing and needing to be replaced but fact was even something simple to repair mandated that it had to be replaced instead. In my years i haven't found much trouble finding anyone to work on it and only now is there some issue and that is just finding the parts. In last 3 years the car only cost me a alternator, some new belts and wire for battery and some new tires. Id say about 1500$. I don't think thats bad and to note, this is my daily driver and commute 45 miles a day. My truck on weekends cost me about the same in just the last year for tires battery and spark plugs, and I only drive that here and there less than 8k a year
This post is so old its not useful to the op but anyone that googles "3000gt reliability rating" will surely come here. I3 dont know about reliability of the vr4s but i have had my 97 SL for about 7 years and i have driven it every day, the only issues i had were an egr flow valve issue and the clutch slave cylinder, but both were easy fixes. Removing the disgustingly oversized fartcannon eclipse exhaust the previous owner installed (what a fool) and fitting a custom exhaust fixed the problem. I guess the eclipse exhaust was too restrictive for a 6 cylinder so it was throwing high exhaust pressure codes. Other than that i have driven it as i said every day (from 86k to 135k) with zero issues. Just be sure to keep up on fluid changes (i would recommend full synth oil every time, every 3k miles for maximum life extension) and all other fluids such as tranny, power steering, and diff. As long as you take good care of the car and perform regular scheduled maintenance it will return the favor and then some. Besides all of the above, this car has given me more joy than any other car ive owned. The only thing i regret is not waiting and finding a clean vr4. Ive seen lots of clean ones with under 100k miles that are cheap simply because they have boost leaks (easy to fix by anyone who understands how turbo systems work). One of the most favored mods i have seen in my 3kgt club is a single turbo conversion, which increases reliability by simplifying the turbo system :) well thats my book haha. Good luck to anyone looking to buy a 3000gt!
Hey i think for the money you get your money's worth. Biggest trunk space in a sports car, back seats, intuitive technology. And of course 225 Hp. If i find one under 100,000 i will definitely purchase one.
I have had my GTO for 11 years and still get a thrill everytime I'm behind the wheel, in the 11 years I have replaced the usual service parts, in all that time let me down twice, power transfer unit and the alternator, apart from that it has been faultless, part's are cheap if you know the right places to look, i.e garage wanted £330 for the PTU, found a new one for £38.00 (Rockauto) US, performance wise, you will need to have somthing pretty serious and spent serious money to out perform, I have uprated the shocks, some engine tweaks, dragger exhaust, the only car that has totally wasted me was a mclaren and thats only because at 150mph I could not afford an instant ban, the car still draws attention with people taking pics as you go by, if you want a drag car, this is not for you, if you want an all round performance car that you can quite easily squeeze 500bhp out of the engine go for it, only comment, make sure there is a full service history
Super looks even after 26 years, found a '95 model with 60Kmls on It with service books. Only 7000 bucks. Mm tempting I really like these cars but having owned rare cars like Mazda RX7 and 323 GTR I know it is a hassle to get parts!! In northern Europa it is much better to get a VW or Honda. Spares are plenty. In the UK (ebay) you can find more parts but still not an everyday car. About MDS, these car are technically very sound, probs better than Honda, but when something breaks you'll pay just like Mazda.
A top condition example with low mileage is definitely collectable now...but you would need to keep it a preservation state basically ... if you just want a Mitsi hack for fast daily driving you can get one of these for next to nothing and have the same basic engine in bulletproof form ..the cooking pot bigger brother 6G74 responds incredibly well with some valve de-shrouding head work and Ralliart cams and an opened exhaust/fuel/timing chip... and then just keep your GTO for the odd weekend blast and keep it in pristine condition : )
Get a 3rd gen Rx7. They are way cooler and if maintained, they will not break.
I have a 1996 3000GT sl and it still runs great at 21 years old! It's a tough car and can definitely still run with the big dogs! My problem is my wife wants me to sell because it's our daily driver and she wants something with more room. So if I have a truck or SUV and wanna trade hit me up lol
Hey Billy I'm actually looking for a 3000gt if you could send me an email with pictures and details about it that'd be great! Chazzwright@aol.com
I'll give you my 3 cents. I am on my third. Got my first off the showroom floor when you had to wait for them to arrive in the US, This car I have now was my dream car. I waited 20 years to own one. It is a 1996 3000 GT Spyder. Original price was $58,000.00. They only produced 62 in 1996 21 red, 21 white and 20 black. I just drive it to car shows and on weekend. Best car i have ever owned and i have owned quite a few. Has the look the rid and the handling.
if you have won the lottery it is a great idea. you can mod about double the HP sadly not the drive train strength my sons, when floored, feels like a gravel truck rear-ended it
Just bought my Base 95 5speedmanual DOHC 3SX with 99,xxx a couple months ago. My advice: dont buy automatic, base > SL (200lbs weight difference), replace ALL the exhaust, put the 18" wheels from the 4g eclipse on it, check for slave cylinder failure because it WILL go bad, ignore the fact that it's wrong wheel drive because it corners like its 4wd, HAVE FUN :))))

Picked up this baby back in October with only 43,100 on the odometer. Garaged for 25 years and running. Any offers lmao?
I just picked up a 95 3000gt based with a blown motor (perfect shell), and a 91 stealth rt/tt with a good drive train. Does anyone see any issues with using the whole drive train from the stealth in the 3000gt?
I am the second owner and daily driver of a 95 convertible spyder. VR4 ....love love love it! !! Makes the long drive to work fun everyday!!
I absolutely LOVE mine her name is Flash not the VR4 but I couldn’t ask for anything better. My GT is a 98 and a wonderful beast she has some electrical issues such as alarm randomly goes off when it’s hotter outside but I just pull the fuses for the alarm and horn fuse to prevent the random screaming lol these cars do great in all types of weather I’ve only been stuck in the snow once and I live in Colorado. My dream car wouldn’t be happy in anything else ❤️
i own a 1993 VR4 with 111,000 for 18 years now the only big problem i had was the ECU that went down 5 years ago .. fund a place online in texas that fix it. wasnt new dought but garanteed for 5 years the car didnt start and after changing a few things was the same.. with the ECU fixed it came alive like new so now need to do cosmetic repairs but thats about it.. SAD PART theres no way to find the front shocks "ECS" no other choise than regular ones.. i only take my for weekends rides and i love to see people turning heads at it..this was my dream car and have no plans on letting it go anywhere, even thought my wife hates it.. LOL
It is a great car, but it could be expensive to upkeep, unless you can do that yourself. I have owned three of them since 2003 and I loved all of them. I currently own two ('95 GTO TT and a '93 Stealth ES). I have modified the GTO with bigger turbos, flash-able ECU, paddle shifters and many other mods. It is an amazing car that was ahead of its time when it came out back in 1991. The looks are timeless and the stock performance is still adequate, almost 30 years later! Some modified examples run 8-second quarter miles on the drag strip. It (the VR-4/TT) is generally heavy for a sports car, but the weight isn't as big of an issue as some people make it, because the car has AWD and launches like a rocket.
