Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i just bout a 1998 Mitsubishi eclipse and i have 2 questions. i bought a code reader for my car and the codes read that pistons 2 and 3 were misfiring. got  bunch of new tools to test it but still have no idea what wrong. second question is the car makes a rattling when the clutch is released in neutral, and it does not rattle when its started in gear with clutch down. my guess is i need a new transmission and if i did get a new transmission how much would it cost to buy it and have some one else instal it. thanks

Does it shift out ok? If so rattle probably a clutch, pressure plate and or throw out bearing issue.

2 and 3 are on the same side of the coil pack. Could be coil pack failing. Or injector issues. Have you tried some fuel treatment to clean injectors?

The coil pack is brand new, would this also effect the speedo because the engine light is on and the speedo does not work

Sounds like could be an ecu issue. Maybe Daniel will chime in on this he is much better than me on the electronics and how they all work together.
