Why is there oil all on the back bumper and rear end of my expedtion

Asked by Rene' Oct 28, 2016 at 01:01 PM about the 1997 Ford Expedition 4 Dr XLT SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It's not coming out of the muffler...it's across the bumper and under the
carriage of the vehicle.

Is the oil red? If so it is from your transmission. You need to have your car put up on a rack to find the source. It could be from the engine, transmission or from the differential.
