That's a tough one to diagnose. Have it scanned for codes even if there is no Check Engine light coming on. And tell us what you find. That's a good one!
Yeah it’s confusing, the mechanics keep saying it’s the Fuel Pump.Aint no way! I’m gonna take it to the dealership and let em diagnose it.I’ll post what they find.
I would assume it actually temperature related and has nothing to do with the light but the fact that it starts right back up does indeed make it difficult, does it start normally? Ignition coil pack, alternator or a poor connection somewhere would be high on my list of things to try and test. Check the fuse box(es) for a thermal auto resetting switch, they look similar to a large fuse but a little bigger in size and have a metal shell around them
Yeah,it starts right up everytime first turn of the key.Im wondering now that I think about it,this started about a month back and around that time my nephew broke the turn signal switch damn near off the steering wheel and I used a popsicle stick and duck taped it on.I know that sounds crazy(but I’m not a mechanic. The thing is I’ve taken it to two mechanics and they just laughed about that and didn’t say anything about it effecting anything. They Both said fuel pump. When I saw you said something about lights related that clicked because it turns the lights on and off.
I meant light as in daylight but yes of your multifunction switch is broken id replace that before anything else and hope it was the issue. Have you tried jiggling it and the ignition while the engine is running? There was a recall on colbalts and g6s because of defective ignition switches (shutting motors down) and I believe it was around the same year(s) as your car. I didnt remember that until you mentioned the multifunction switch.... funny how that happens! Lol
