My car backfired threw the cold air intake an one of
the silver filters blew out an since then my car will
idle but if I give it any gas it will bog down an stall.
But if I unplug it it runs fine. Will keeping it
unplugged cause long term problems?

It will throw off your fuel trim and continue to cause driveability issues. I would suspect your fuel mileage would suffer as well. Would suggest pulling codes or have a local shop determine what the root cause is here. Good Luck!
Agree with bryan,it is controlled by computer meaning air flow and gas, have it checked by a pro to know your issue,
If runs better with mass unhooked then the mass is probably damaged. Your air fuel mixture will not be correct running with it unhooked.
