I have a 1971 Pontiac Lemans I would like to know Where #1 is on the dist, cap!

I will assume you have a 350 CID V-8 in your 71. #1 cylinder is usually in the right front corner of the engine as you look from the front of the car. #1 on the dist cap would be the contact that points to this cylinder after the cap it seated properly on the distributor. Timing will likely be slightly off but this should be close enough to start the car. Connect the remaining wires clockwise around the dist cap based on the firing order.
