my water pump was leaking then stop and is making noises does that mean it need replaced

look at the bottomside of the unit...there is a "weep" hole that will start dripping if the bearing is about to give way...you could grab the pulley and push it up and down side to side to tell if it has too much/any free play, as these units can wear out on us in a couple 20000 miles or so-

If your water pump was leaking it will again and when they let go they usually really dump a lot of fluid. See First if it is a hose leaking or from the weep hole like jrb said, if it is the pump don't wait to have it fixed.
