Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2004 PT Cruiser is over heating while idling, it

is the fan running when it gets hot ? if not you can hot wire it or turn on AC to see if it works , if it works replace the coolant sensor that may help , If the gauge climbs only at idle it could be the water pump , the impellers can corrode from neglected coolant . Pull a heater hose and check for circulation as long as there's no air pockets . How's the heat in the cabin ?
