Intelligent Key question 2019 Escape

Asked by twb239 Jun 17, 2019 at 02:41 PM about the 2019 Ford Escape SE AWD

Question type: General

My new 2019 Escape came with Intelligent Key and a keypad on the drivers
door.  I cannot lock the doors unless the Intelligent key is outside of the
vehicle. Is there a setting that would allow me to leave the key in the vehicle
and use the keypad on the drivers door to lock/unlock the doors?  I thought
the keypad was designed so you didn't have to carry keys with you all the
time.  Intelligent Key seems to make this feature useless.  There's nothing in
the owners manual and when i called Ford they simply read the owners
manual to me again.

Good morning. Did you ever get an answer? I have the same question

Not the answer I was hoping for! Apparently you can no longer leave the keys in the car and lock the car from the outside. This essentially renders the keypad on the drivers door useless.

I was given a code to enter on the keypad so I can leave the key in the car and lock the door. Then there is a different code to unlock the door.
