Engine stop will not start

91 3000gt quad cam non-turbo auto.Driving home engine cuts out, all lights still on. cranks no start. Cam belt ok, timing marks all line up. all coils sparking,fuel pump checked ok, new fuel filter fitted, ECU replaced, all fuses checked. both relays on either side of tunnel appear to be ok. compression low but not low enough to prevent starting. Used a multimeter to do a manual diagnostic check and the needle just waved side to side on the gauge so no error codes indicated.

True, but would that cause the engine to suddenly die when driving. I had just kicked it down to climb a small hill, over the hill it changed up then engine died.Go figure..
I think the problem is much deeper than that. I wish it were that simple.Still looking for answers.
If the crank sensor died then I wouldn't still be getting any spark, right? It's a 91 DOHC model and the crank & cam sensors are all together in the one unit. I just get the feeling we are missing something. Everything has been either checked replaced and still not starting. For the engine to suddenly die while driving is still a mystery. It didn't just splutter and stop, it just die All the lights still on etc It cranks over ok but nothing happens. It's going to the garage shortly to be put on a diagnostic machine which we hope will solve the mystery. Fingers crossed.
Compression is low? How low? Yours should be 150 psi to 200 psi. You removed the upper intake to check the compression on the back head? Sure sounds like your timing may have jumped. You say your timing marks all line up. So you removed the whole drivers side of engine dust covers, belts, motor mounts, alternator, power steering pump, harmonic balancer, ect to properly inspect the timing marks?
there is a jumper wire to test the fuel pump on the passenger side firewall, just touch it to the positive of the battery and you will hear the fuel pump start.
Andre, my car does the same thing. Could you tell me the fix?
