This would probably be the subject of a service bulletin, not a recall. What does your dealer say?
I had purchased the 2019 Forester in October, just after it came out. Actually bought the car right off the showroom floor. Before I had my first oil change, I had been back to the service department and dealership 3 times. They of course said that they hadn't heard of this happening. Odd, because it was all over the internet. They disconnected the battery and reconnected it. The gait worked. By the 4th time, they gave me a loner car and kept my car for a week. Since disconnecting the battery was the first step in their resolve, they promise they wouldn't do that again to try and figure out what the problem was. So, they did it again. After a week they said they couldn't duplicate the problem so they couldn't figure it out. I was very upset of course. By the 5th time, the general manager offered to exchange my car, which he did after 2 months (end of May). After one week, it happened to the new car. I disconnected the battery myself and it worked again. Then I found this website. Not sure what to do at this point but certainly am exasperated from all of this. Any thoughts?
Complain directly to Subaru of America but since this is new there may not be a "fix" yet.
