Real problem is the frame. Convertibles of that era had an X frame to make them more rigid without the hard top. Cutting the top off and not doing anything to the frame may cause body gaps to change at the doors.
so true...you will have a hard time keeping its shape..
Why butcher a nice car? The cars value will be almost zero when cut the top off.
The convertible frame had four extra body mounts.two underneath the front seats and two more underneath the back seats.the frame was also reinforced with a piece of metal runing on top from front to back but got thicker above the wheel arches.you would need a convertible donnor g.m. same year.63 or 64.front windshield frame.convertible rack.convertible back seats.front vent windows are flat on top not pointy.to allow top to set right.you would need the back convertible tub of the donnor car surgically cut it out and install it into yours.back convertible quarter windows are smaller by 4 1/2 inches and they roll up differnt.convertible trim pinch weld moldings windshield a pilar moldings hard to find and expensive since they dont reproduce any convertible parts.crazy?yes.but there's nothing lile driving a convertible.thats the money shot.if you're going to pay somebody to do this forget it.but if you like bulding stuff.good with your hands and can measure do it.
