Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 Nissan Altima . The
compressor is going out and I want to
bypass it. Advance said 88 1/2 inch belt is
the normal size . How do you measure a
shorter belt to replace it?

I don't know if they even make a non-AC belt for this model, it might not be possible due to configuration of the other pulleys. You can usually get an AC-bypass pulley however (a dummy pulley), in place of the AC compressor. Just use that term in Google or the parts site search.

If the A/C clutch - pulley bearing is still good just unplug the wire that goes to the A/C clutch and that will keep the compressor from running.
