Google "auto AC system" for an overview of all the parts in a car's AC system. As for "conductor" you may mean "condenser". I would get one or more pro quotes before replacing a compressor, it's the heart of the system so it won't be cheap. You REALLY want to make sure it's bad before spending money to replace that.
When your ac goes out you need a compressor but what is a conductor?
