Car overheating

Asked by Shannon Apr 22, 2018 at 06:34 PM about the 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Whenever I sit in traffic or just sit too long, my car
overheats. I took it to a mechanic, who told me
everything seemed to be working fine. He said he
let the car sit for an hour running and it never
overheated. So once again, car overheats as I'm
stuck in traffic. I took it to another mechanic. He
said the exact same thing. Nothing wrong with the
thermostat, the water pump, the radiator, fluid
levels. Nothing. He said he let the car idle for
almost 3 hours and drove it around for the two
days he had it and it never overheated. The next
day I pick the car up, go to a restaurant and the car
starts overheating while I'm waiting in the drive
thru. Any idea what this could possibly be?
