Question type: General

I’m considering buying a 2019 CX-5, is this a
reliable car? How does it compare to the
reliability of a Toyota Highlander?

Hi, I've just ordered the new model 2020 from Mazda and Ive checked almost everything that normal person can check and I can tell you, that the Mazda CX 5 is cheap, very reliable and you can compare to Toyota Rav 4 and Honda CR-V. If you want style for less money than Audi, BMV, Mercedes, Acura and Alfa Romeo you take Mazda CX 5. If you don't care about that you can take the ugly Toyota or Honda, they have just a bit more boot space. If you can wait, than you can buy Mazda CX 5 with skyactive-X engine, but it will be probably model 2021.

I have a 2015 Mazda CX-5 that has never had any problems after 33K miles. It starts, runs and drives great with an average of 23-24 mpg. The Toyota Highlander is a different class and compares with the Mazda CX-9, Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade, all of which are better than the Highlander. I drove all of them. The CX-9 has less towing capacity because of a 4 cyl instead of 6 cyl engine. The Highlander is a very reliable vehicle, probably its best feature.
