2019 Tiguan Infotainment Sound settings reset
Asked by kassquatch Feb 28, 2020 at 12:45 PM about the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan Highline 4Motion
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
On my new (6 month old) 2019 Tiguan, the sound settings (subwoofer, bass, treble) reset sporadically in the infotainment system. I took it into the dealership and they blamed me for "not knowing how to use it and I may be possible hitting the reset button each time" I called them idiots and left.
No, its not that. It works/saves once it is set. I have exited out of the settings screen by both pressing the back button and also just another menu to test. Sound settings save after it is set. And it may work for a few car starts or more. But then randomly (with both the same key/profile, or changing keys/profiles) it will reset to default.
I have reset car profiles, factory reset the infotainment system, and took to the dealer (which as stated above were useless)
Any others with this? Any ideas how to fix? Is it just a shitty bug typical of VW infotainment?

I'm having the same issue with my 2019 Tiguan R-line. I have been experiencing the issue since January (Sound settings reset) as well as navigation settings resetting, I have to re- configure my home address and nav settings again (extremely annoying!). I have a feeling it's an issue with the remote starter, as the issues only happen after me or my wife use the remote starter function on our unique fobs. I have an appointment at my VW dealer in a couple weeks. They said they never heard of any such issues, but will "take a look". I really hope I can replicate the issue for them.

Sadly no fix yet. But I also deduced it down to the remote starter. (which I hadn't narrowed it down to when I posted this and took it in) So I will be going back at some point to talk with them about it.

Took it back, dealer still says nothing is wrong and there are no error codes and no one else has ever said they have this problem. Still not happy.
Damn, that's annoying. Were you able to replicate the issue for them? My appointment for this is in a few weeks. I had to reschedule my initial appointment. I found a way to replicate the issue every time, I hope they can do something about it... -Jordan
I believe this is happening with my 2020 Tiguan SEL. We bought it last December. Around June/July it was doing it a lot. Didn’t take notice at that time if it was remote related. Took it in and they replaced my main screen with a whole new dash. They had to reprogram our remotes. Ours was resetting the infotainment system settings along with the trip odo, vehicle info (long term, since restart, since refuel). It was good for about 4 months. Until it just happened this week. Now that I read these other posts it was after I used the remote start. Now I have been using that since we got the screen replaced but it hadn’t done it. I will be calling the dealer on Monday. Barely 1 year old car shouldn’t be doing this crap.
Do you have your key fob associated to a driver profile? Try switching a driver profile as it will save a lot of your customer settings and try using a different fob. Maybe that will help

We do. we have 2 profiles and 2 key fobs. Tried everything and every combination all the way to factory resetting everything and nothing worked. Finally took it back after 3 times of them saying nothing was wrong and told them to either fix it or replace the whole infotainment system, and they said there was a software update for the infotainment system and updated it. They updated it, no problems since. That was 3 weeks ago.
