Hello GuruQF8KZ, Welcome to the world of frustrated vehicle owners - your's is a problem that has frustrated owners (probably all makes and models) for at least a decade. When you ask your dealership about it they will likely play dumb, promise to look into it, and get back to you explaining it is a 'feature' that cannot be disabled. Your own and you are screwed if your car gets trashed by rain and snow. If you happen to be well connected to an aggressive law firm specializing in class action lawsuits, maybe you can become a national hero by getting a long overdue class action lawsuit going. Or if you're good buddies with someone in Washington who can't be bought off by automotive lobbyists maybe you could get pressure applied to force a fix. You are not alone, some similar threads on the site include https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-t72368_ds816291 https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-t5996_ds433522 https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-t72373_ds1065941 Best of luck in protecting your car from the elements. The best my dealership could do was to explain "just don't put your FOB in your pockets or purse."
