2019 Nissan Kicks?

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

My partner and I are looking to buy an affordable, reliable, spacious but compact family car that'll last us a super long time. We came across the Nissan Kicks S and have test-driven it. We love everything about it (especially the price tag) except I have concerns about the power of this little car. Some of it's specs are as follows:

1.6-litre DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder
Horsepower: 122 hp @ 6,300 rpm
Torque: 114 lb-ft @ 4,000 rpm
Weight: 2639 pounds

I am planning to be on the highway on the weekends and go on road trips. We want to know if longer drives will be hard on its engine and possibly result in more maintenance. Or is the main issue is that it gets a little loud?

I would need the peace of mind to know that the Kicks would be fine at full capacity (occasionally 5 passengers, full trunk), going up to 130mph on a long drive out of town. Will it be slow when going up steep hills or slow driving on the freeway? The main question: Will it give me problems?

I have to also consider that if we push the car harder, the fuel economy won't be as good as advertised. But maybe it would still be worth it if we are driving in the city for most of the week. I'm just not sure.

Let me know what you think. Would the Kicks be fine? Or should I consider "stronger" cars?

Thanks!

This is an econobox car with limited power and space, not a high speed grand touring car. You will never get any where near 130mph. You should also check out the reputation of the Nissan CVT.

Sorry guys, I'm realizing I meant 130 KPH not MPH. Does that change anyone's thoughts?

No. Going 80 with 5 people and steep hills is too much to ask for 122 hp. Do your research on the Nissan CVT!!!
