1997 Ranger Start issue click no start sometimes.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1997 Ford Ranger.  When I press in clutch and turn key I get a click sometimes
but not starting.  95% of the time the truck will start just fine.  Once in a while I
get this issue. I have to move clutch up / down and wiggle to find a sweet spot
to get the starter to fire.   I am not sure if this is something related to the clutch
position or if it is the wiggling that does it. I hold in the key while barely letting
clutch go up or down and eventually it will click. Once I do this I probably go
all day with out issue. If truck sits it will do it more than likely when I got to start
it.

Possible starter going bad, bad battery connections, bad ignition switch or weak battery/ alternator going bad. If the clutch safety switch is bad, replace it.
