2004 Altima 2.5   automatic. When the car is cold or sits for a while  I put it in
drive and it some times takes 2-3 min. to actually go into gear and start moving

Sorry, but Nissan and Infinity have the most INCONSISTENT quality control of all the Japanese cars. Does this happen even after the car is warmed up? You may need a transmission overhaul.

Unfortunately, not all CVT transmissions are the same, and Nissan is one of the worst. See this, http://forums.nicoclub.com/2004-altima-3-5-se-cvt-problems- t276260.html

Good luck. I would get rid of this car before it causes you further problems down the line.
